Sleep problems may be early sign of Alzheimer’s

Sleep disruptions may be among the earliest indicators of the start of Alzheimer’s disease, scientists at the School of Medicine report in Science Translational Medicine. David M. Holtzman, MD, the Andrew B. and Gretchen P. Jones Professor and head of the Department of Neurology, is the study’s author.

Varvel, Markou launch DUC Chamber Music Series

Guitarist Vincent Varvel and soprano Stella Markou (right) will launch the fall Danforth University Center Chamber Music Series at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. The program also will highlight My Beloved Is Mine, a composition by Martin Kennedy, assistant professor of music.

Painter and poet Edward Boccia, professor emeritus of art in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, died Monday, Sept. 3, in his home in Webster Groves of pneumonia. He was 91.
